Did you know that only 27% of all of the people of Guatemala have access to clean drinking water? Also, over 2,ooo people die every year from drinking water that has parasites, insects and plants that are poisonous in it. Guatemalan Wells started to raise the percentage of people who have clean water and to lower the death rate of people who die from drinking dirty water. We will send crews around to Guatemalan towns and dig wells within every square mile of the town so that people will have an easy stroll to a well to get drinking water for the day.
Mainly, we will be building two types of wells, bucket drawn wells and hydrolic pump wells. The bucket drawn wells are the easiest and cheapest wells to build. All our crews have to do is dig about a 50 foot hole in the ground and support the sides with stones. Then they build wooden supports and put a bucket with a crank on one of the supports. The second type of well is a little more complicated but is still a relatively simple concept. First our crews dig a hole that is just as deep but a little thinner. Then they run a long plastic tub down the hole and then seal it with a hydrolic pump. Finally when someone pulls down on the pump, fresh, clean water rushes from the pump. Those are the basic typed of wells we will be building.
Another great thing about Guatemalan Wells is that we will hire Guatemalan people to help build the wells. the only requirement is that they have to be able to read metric measurements. Because we are hiring Guatemalan people that will also help Guatemala's unemployment rate and hopefully help reduce Guatemala's high crime rate. So you have heard our story so we urge you to donate or apply for a job at Guatemalan Wells!

Making the wells
We will be making wells for fresh water and we will make jobs better for the people of Guatemala. Our land that we are going to be digging in has to be hard soil so in case we do find the water while digging we will have to bring heavy machinery to take the dirt, and mud out, and to put things in such as wood, stone, and steel.
